look i look at …
look i look at songwriting this way:every song, every musical piece, every chord progession, every melody, represents something. an emotion, a person, but something to YOU. if you wanna write a good song, than first off have an instrument your comfortable with, that you know, and then think of how that emotion or event or whatever would sound if it was music. think hard, and once you figure it out, if its quality, just set out completing it and building it. LET THE LIFE YOUVE LIVED DO THE WORK.

You can actually …
You can actually grow into the songwriting process. It has nothing to do with being ‘born with’ anything. You may be ‘born with’ a greater desire, and may take to writing songs easier than others, but it would be foolish to give up after a few attempts because you weren’t ‘born with’ it.

Agreed, except I …
Agreed, except I don’t particularly care for Glover’s voice. Living Color just remind me of Extreme, Kings X and a whole bunch of other late-80’s light rock bands.

I love how u stated …
I love how u stated that!! LOL.. its deinitely something u have to be born with dont just get up one day and decide you wanna write a song.. from ppl that i know who THINK they can write.. they try it out then it sounds like shit, they reallize it sounds like and then they get frustrated. This is my passion so its easier to relate with what vernon is saying, it is a very frustrating job. I know I’m not famous but my best advice could be BACKGROUND VOCALS!!! they make the song sound full!
January 6th, 2010 at 1:25 am
yeah I know i’d …
yeah I know i’d like to be able to focus more on his talking and not the background music. They could’ve just turned the music down a notch and his voice would’ve come through so much better.

That’s the way I …
That’s the way I like it is Zen? Never thought so. Songs come to me many times as complete. I mean verses and chorus. They are so different it’s almost scary to think about where they’re coming from. If I have an idea that isn’t working it’s usually because it’s not worth writing and for me not worth building a catalouge of idea or licks that didn’t make it.
